Biopuncture

With the application of Biopuncture in conjunction with Acupuncture and Herbal therapy, Dr. Morishige supports permanent healing and bringing you back to functionality in cases of:

•  Musculoskeletal pain: Neck pain, back pain and joint pain

Inflammatory conditions: Bronchitis, gastritis, cystitis, sinusitis

•  Allergies: Asthma, eczema, hay fever

•  Headaches: Migraine, tension headache, whiplash

What is Biopuncture?

Biopuncture is a specific injection method, clearly differentiated from other injection methods applied in medical practice (such as neural therapy, mesotherapy, prolotherapy, and numerous others).

Its boundaries are well defined in the technique of injection, the site of injection and and type of biological medications used. Although specific examination techniques are used, especially in musculoskeletal complaints, Biopuncture is based on a conventional and an additional functional medicine diagnosis (FMD), which may include lab tests, ultrasound, or MRI, where such FMD results may be requested by Dr. Morishige to determine your diagnosis for Biopuncture treatments. These injections support natural healing instead of suppressing the symptoms with other drugs or therapies.

Biopuncture theraputics is:

  • simple

  • reproducible

  • clinically effective

  • non-surgical

  • cost-effective

What kinds of products are being injected?

Products commonly used in Biopuncture are, for example, homeopathic natural substances such as arnica, echinacea, nux vomica and chamomile. Arnica is used for muscle pain due to Injuries, inflammation and degenerative conditions, nux vomica is injected for digestive problems, echinacea is used to increase the natural defense system of the body. Biopuncturists always inject cocktails of natural products. Lymphomyosot is used for lymphatic drainage, Traumeel for inflammations and sports injuries, Spascupreel for muscular cramps and general spasms, Neuralgo Rheum for Neuropathic pain, soft tissue rheumatic pain and symptoms of vertebral dic protrusion, Zeel is for arthrosis, osteosrthritis, rheumatic joint disease, pain and joint stiffness. Injections with antiflogistics, hyaluronic acid, blood platelets, blood, procaine, ozon, cortisone or vitamin B are not considered as Biopuncture.

Can there be a worsening in the course of the treatment?

When treating chronic complaints, there may be improvement after one or two sessions, which is then followed by a change in symptoms before there is an actual improvement (reaction phase, adaptation phase, and in some cases temporary worsening). Sometimes the complaints may be even worse than before treatment. This is due to the fact that the doctor is now working on a deeper, underlying, layer. The patient should understand that this is not a reason to stop weekly Biopuncture sessions. This temporary worsening may last a while during the following days or weeks, there may be improvement then worsening, displacement of symptoms, or just worsening the day after, before (lasting) improvement is finally achieved. Always be aware of the activities you may have planned around your Biopuncture treatments and inform your practitioner.

When should I consider Biopuncture?

Dr. Morishige utilizes the Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture meridians and energetics with biopuncture. Following your recommended acupuncture session for treatment, if there are any unresolved symptoms, biopuncture may be recommended to treat all of, but not limited too, the following: Neck pain and back pain, ankle sprains, pain in the shoulder and Achilles tendonitis, tennis elbow and golf elbow, knee pain, sciatica and more. However, Biopuncture is not just used for pain problems, osteoarthritis or sports injuries. An area of treatment worth noting is that of viruses, allergies and inflammations. For example, one can treat asthma, eczema and hay fever. And even patients with bronchitis, cystitis and sinusitis can be treated with this technique. You can also be treated for migraine, tension headache, and so on.

Who may benefit from Biopuncture?

The use of biological injections can benefit those patients who have tried conventional medicine but have had no success, or those who have had to stop taking conventional medication because of side effects. It is an interesting healing technique for those patients who want to avoid surgery (for example, for sciatica, knee, shoulder or sinusitis). In some patients it may be advantageous to combine the conventional approach with Biopuncture. Each case should be taken into account individually, of course. Biopuncture utilizes Traditional Chinese Medicine - Acupuncture points and Meridians. Following your recommended acupuncture sessions for treatment and evaluation of any underlying conditions that may be hindering your healing, if there are any unresolved symptoms, biopuncture may be recommended.

Conclusion

Biopuncture is a safe and efficient technique in complementary medicine. It uses biological injections to stimulate the natural self-healing capacities of your body. Individual consultations on Biopuncture are available.

List of Substances, Theraputics, Indications & Functions

B-Complex

All B vitamins help the body to convert carbohydrates into glucose, which is "burned" to produce energy.  These B vitamins are essential in the breakdown of fats and protein.  B-Complex vitamins also play an important role in maintaining the muscle tone in the gastrointestinal tract and promoting the health of the nervous system, skin, hair, eyes, moutn, and liver.  B-Complex vitamins are a popular choice of athletes.

Some Benefits are:

  • Improves Metabolism

  • Maintains Normal Skin Function

  • Improves Mood

  • Reduces Water Retention

  • Promotes a Normal Appetite

  • Increases Red Blood Cell Production

  • Improves Liver Function

  • Boosts Production of Energy

Supplement B is responsible for offering cellular growth, cellular split, skin wellness, immunity process, stressed program, and also, in handling the actual metabolic methods. A deficiency of certain B vitamins can cause anemia, tiredness, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, depression, numbness and tingling in the arms and legs, muscle cramps, respiratory infections, hair loss, eczema, poor growth in children, and birth defects.

Most B-Complex injections may include the following vitamins:

  • Vitamin B-1 (Thiamine): The water-soluble vitamin that all living organisms use in their biochemistry for the proper metabolism of starch and sugar and for effectively maintaining a healthy nervous system.

  • Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin 5-Phosphate): The easily absorbed micronutrient that is required for a wide variety of cellular processes and plays a key role in energy metabolism and helps the thyroid function properly.

  • Vitamin B-3 (Niacinamide): The water-soluble vitamin that is essential for the normal function of the nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract; the severe lack of which is a potential contributing factor towards obesity.

  • Vitamin B-5 (Calcium Pantothenate):  The essential vitamin to all forms of life that is a vital coenzyme in numerous chemical reactions that generate energy from food and promote cell reproduction and gene expression.

  • Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine HCL):  The water-soluble vitamin that is a cofactor in many reactions of amino acid metabolism, including the synthesis of serotonin, and the maintenance of hormones and a stronger immune system.

  • Vitamin B-12 (Cobalamin):  Plays a role in the body's growth and development. It also has a part in producing blood cells, nervous system function, and how the body uses folic acid and carbohydrates.

B-Complex injections should be given on a weekly basis (every 7-10 days) to maintain constant blood levels.

Cyanocobalamin/Methocobalamin (Vitamin B-12)

Vitamin B-12 is the "energy vitamin" as it often increases the energy level helping to prevent fatigue.  It also helps to suppress the appetite in weight loss programs as well as having a mild diuretic effect.  It stimulates the utilization of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in the body. It is an essential water-soluble vitamin that is commonly found in a variety of foods such as fish, shellfish, meats, and dairy products. Vitamin B-12 is frequently used in combination with other B vitamins in a vitamin B complex formulation which is explained above.  It helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells and is also needed to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells.

Cyanocobalamin is rapidly absorbed from IM and SC injections delivering peak plasma levels within 1 hour after IM injection. B12 is transported via specific B12 binding proteins, transcobalamin I and II to the various tissues. The liver is main organ for storage of B12. 48 hrs post IM injection, 98% flushed in urine, verses the rapid excretion through IV administration which leaves little left for the liver. The majority of B12 is lost within 8 hrs after IM injection.

Oral/Gastrointestinal absorption of B12 depends on the presence of sufficient intrinsic factor and calcium ions. Intrinsic factor deficiency causes pernicious anemia. The average US diet supplies 5 to 15 mcg/day of B12 in a protein-bound form which implies that B12 may not present in foods of plant origin, but is most abundant in foods of animal origin. Vegans and vegetarians are in high regards for B12 Injections.

Dexpanthenol (Vitamin B-5)

Pantothenic acid is a precursor of coenzyme A, a co-factor for a variety of enzyme-catalyzed reactions involving transfer of acetyl groups, responsible for the synthesis of certain steroids in adrenal glands and it’s a Acetylcholine neurotransmitter responsible for nerve impulses and detoxification in pathways.

B-5 is part of ATP production in the Krebs cycle. It is important for fighting stress. During periods of stress, the body produces a hormone and neurotransmitter called adrenaline which requires the B-5 vitamin. Heart palpitations are a common symptom during stressful periods which may include but are not limited to strong emotions, vigorous activity, certain medicines, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine and some medical conditions. Insufficiency of vitamins B-6, B-9 and B-12 also can cause heart palpitations. B-5 nourishes the adrenal glands and can return excessive cortisol productions back to normal. When adrenals are stressed and fatigued B-5 can easily jump start them with proper dosing and a combination of specific minerals and supplements with counseling.

B-5 is also involved in synthesis of fats including cholesterol and is essential for porphyrin – hemoglobin synthesis.

Other B-5 Clinical Indications: Acne Vulgaris, Allergic rhinitis, Hypoadrenalism, "Goose Stepping"...

Folic Acid

Folic acid, along with vitamin B12, is important for formation of red blood cells. Lack of these two vital nutrients leads to variety of anemia called macrocytic anemia. This means the red blood cells appear bloated and large and have a reduced capacity to carry oxygen.

Folate along with other B vitamins are also vital for nerve function. Folate is essential for the formation of DNA (genetic material) within every body cell. This allows normal replication of cells.

Biochemically folates act as chemicals that medicate one-carbon transfer reactions. These are important for formation of purines and pyrimidines. These purines and pyrimidines form basic building blocks for DNA.

Some evidence links a shortage of folate with depression.  Limited evidence from randomized controlled trials showed using folic acid in addition to antidepressants to be specific SSRIs, may have benefits. Research at the University of York and Hull York Medical School has found a link between depression and low levels of folate.

Function: Synthesis of purines – guanine, adenine, and pyrimidine thymine; formation of mature RBC & WBC; folacin is carbon carrier in formation of heme; used to make glutamic acid; used to convert phenylalanine to tryosine.

Hyaluronic Acid

Also known as Glycoaminoglycan, Hyluronic Acid acts as a network that transfers essential nutrients from the bloodstream to skin cells. High concentrations are found in soft connective tissues, fluid surrounding your eyes, cartilage and joint fluids, skin tissue, scalp tissue and hair follicles, lips and gum tissue. HA plays a key role in numerous areas of the body including the maintenance of skin volume and hydration, eye volume and shape and joint lubrication and cushioning.

When this gel is injected, it acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to normal aging. For over a century now, various synthetic forms of hyaluronic acid have been developed and used to correct disorders in the fields of rheumatology, ophthalmology, and wound repair. Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers are the fastest growing non-invasive aesthetic procedure in the United States.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Theraputics:

Pain Management

Rheumatology

Orthopedics

Aesthetics

Wounds/burns/skin ulcers/moisturizer

As a joint injection HA protects against damage and friction between bones and cartilage, alternation of synovial fluid, and some tendon and ligament/connective tissues. Ha is found in the ECM of load-bearing joints. It is also a chief component of the interstitial gel. Hyaluronic acid is found on the inner surface of the cell membrane and is translocated out of the cell during biosynthesis. Hyaluronic acid acts as an environmental cue that regulates cell behavior during embryonic development, healing processes, inflammation, and tumor development. It interacts with a specific transmembrane receptor.

Dextrose

Dextrose is a sclerosing agent that causes inflammation in the Intra Muscular and Subcutaneous tissues to promote healing.

Dextrose Prolotherapy:

Pain

Inflammation

Laxity of tissue

Degenerated tissue

Neuralgia

Possibly Fibromyalgia

Joint & Cartilage Degradation
